Cool Stuff Friday-week 2

This video is of Latin American Idol. It is not completely shocking that Latin America would have a show like this, but because American Idol auditions started this week i thought it was fitting. I can't understand everything they are saying because I'm not fluent in Spanish but the female judge acts like Paula. It's casted just like ours and looks just like ours.

The video below has music from the
Andes Mountains area. The music is great but the best part is
the pictures. The video has a lot of
pictures of the traditional outfits
and instruments. There are also
some really old pictures. The outfits are
really amazing. It is a really good find.

  1. I watched the Latin American Idol. What a great example of Western influence. It is so funny. She has a wonderful voice that would even do well in our American Idol. It is interesting that they value the same timbre in their pop singers as Americans do. There judges are complete rip-offs too. Really funny.

  2. I loved watching the Latin American Idol. The female judge IS just like Paula! I think that was a fun and creative way to explore Latin American music. The music from the Andes Mountains was gorgeous - I really enjoyed the way the panpipes, percussion, and strings came together. The photos were fascinating (the kid with the white, straw hat was precious.)

  3. Those outfits in the last video are pretty wild, but I sort of like them too. Katie also has a video from Latin American Idol on her blog, and I must say I actually like this girl's voice better. Both of them are pretty good though. Awesome finds.

  4. Oh thanks Megan. :) Just kidding. Anyway, I could not agree more with Megan! This girl's voice is amazing even though I have no idea what she is saying. The customes in your second video were absolutely beautiful and what is so neat is that I have seen it all with my own two eyes! The Andes Moutain people are precious in every way. They would do anything for anybody and have such kind hearts. I really enjoyed the music in the background. I enjoyed your cool stuff. :)

  5. I thoroughly enjoyed the first and third videos. The beat in the first video sounded like it was in 2/4, and it made me want to dance, but it was soothing, also. The colors in the clothes and costumes in the third video were astounding. I thought it was interesting also, that many of the people, especially women, wore dark brown hats similar to what my grandfather wore. That was a stark contrast to the bright colors.
